-
How many people will be on board?
- Does your group consist of pairs who can share the same
cabin, or do some crew members require a separate cabin?
- Do you prefer comfort?
- Do you require a skipper or not? If you need skipper's
services, bear in mind that the skipper sleeps on board as well, so one
of the berths (either in the saloon area or in a cabin) should belong to him.
-
What are the qualifications needed
for bareboat charter?
In the event of a bareboat charter (without hired
skipper) the client skipper must be in possession of a certificate of
competence in order to charter a boat. It is also a legal requirement for one
member of the crew to be qualified for operation with the VHF station.
Licenses and certificates
issued according to the regulations pertaining to navigation in similar waters
in his country of origin and containing the verification of the state are
accepted by the Croatian authorities. The VHF license is obligatory as well.
Most of the RYA and ASA licenses are accepted (www.rya.org.uk,
www.asa.com)
for sailing in Croatian territorial waters.
In any case please be sure to send the copies of your licenses it to us via
email or fax (No. + 385 21 213 128 or to
booking@croatia-charter.hr), so that we can check its validity with
the Naval authorities of Croatia before chartering a boat..
-
In case you do have years of experience
but no formal qualifications...........
You can book the boat in
advance as well but with the mutual understanding that you will obtain the
required certificates by the moment of check-in
otherwise the paid deposit is forfeit.
-
When to hire professional skipper?
In case you have no sailing experience at all or
you do not possess sailing license, you are obliged to hire a skipper in order
to charter the boat in Croatia. Sometimes, if not often even very experienced
sailor hire a professional skipper for the reasons they are not familiar with
the local waters and to make their cruise more relaxing. You can also benefit
from the skippers' local knowledge – they are well acquainted with the
Adriatic region and will be able to suggest you the most interesting places
for swimming and fun, as well as numerous restaurants. We can reserve the
skipper for you or you can hire it yourself in case you have some
recommendations for someone.
-
How much does the
skipper cost?
Skipper costs 120 € per day + food. Skipper's
services are paid separately from the boat charter fee, in cash, upon check-in
on the boat.
Apart from this you need take care of the skipper's feeding as well. In case
you plan to eat out in the restaurants and be by your own you can arrange his
feeding in three ways:
- you can take the skipper with you
- give him money to buy the food and drink on his own (cca 20 € - 30 € per
day)
- or buy enough food so that the skipper can eat on board while you’re in a
restaurant
-
Where does the
skipper sleeps?
Mostly the skipper sleeps in the saloon area, but it is strongly recommended
to charter a bigger boat and to provide the skipper with his own cabin. Since
he is in charge of the day-to-day running of the yacht as well as the security
of people on board, he should be well-rested – apart from that, the guest will
have more comfort and a free saloon area to hang out.
-
How much the hostess
cost and what are her duties on the boat?
Hostess cost 80 € per day + food. Her duties
on the boat include: cleaning, preparing breakfast and short meals, shopping
groceries, babysitting..etc.
-
What are the other
costs to be considered except boat charter?
Apart from the fees paid directly to us (boat
rent, final cleaning, outboarder, skipper, hostess) when planning your budget
you need consider following costs as well:
FUEL - dependant on the motor usage, cca. 5 litres per hour
multiplied with the price of diesel fuel which amounts cca. 1 € per litre and
further multiplied with 3 hours of average daily motor usage (calculated
on the basis of our past experience) it amounts up to 15 € daily.
Mooring fees – The price
of the berth per day ranges from cca 25 € to 65 €, depending on the size of
the boat.
These costs refer to all the marinas, except the base marina where you do not
pay any charge for moorings
SECURITY DEPOSIT payable either in cash or VISA OR MASTER credit card
which you pay by check-in, covers possible boat, equipment and inventory
damage. In case of a boat damage or equipment loss, the amount of the caused
damage is paid with the deposit money, whereas higher amounts are covered by
the insurance company. If the boat is returned undamaged, the deposit will be
returned to you.
If hiring our skipper, he is responsible for all the damage caused while
manoeuvring, mooring or anchoring the vessel but you are obliged to leave the
deposit as well to cover possible damages made by you.
FOOD - You are supposed to take care of your own feeding, preparing
meals either on the boat or eating out. Upon check-in on the boat or prior to
your arrival in the marina we suggest you buying some provisions (at least
drinking water) in the supermarket, but certainly not making loads of
provisions since on each island you do have both shops and supermarkets
working even on Sundays till late.
Not to mention numerous little restaurants offering delicious local and
international specialities at moderate prices.
-
Are there secure
parking place in the area of the marina?
Whole area of the marina is supervised 24 hours per
day. There are parking places both free ones as those payable 2€ per day.
Sometimes on Saturdays in the season it may prove to be difficult to find a
place but in the final everyone finds the place.
-
Which currency is
used for paying in the marinas, restaurants...etc.?
All the services in Croatia are paid in Kunas
either in cash or by credit cards (all major credit cards are accepted). In
the marinas, restaurants, bigger shops and supermarkets you can certainly pay
by credit card, but in cafés and small shops you need to pay cash.
-
What to bring with
you onboard and what is provided onboard?
It is recommended not to
bring with you heavy clothes. Light T-shirts, casual trousers and some warm
pull-over for the cool nights should be enough. A water resistant jacket could
be proved necessary while sailing in rough weather.
Avoid to bring valuable items such us golden necklaces, watches, earrings etc.
In case that you will finally decide to have such things with you, remember to
check if you have everything before you leave the yacht. Two pairs of soft boat
shoes should be our recommendation. If possible, do not bring with you hard
suitcases. The storing space on board is limited and such suitcases is difficult
to be stored. It should be much better to use soft fabric bags. They can be
easily folded and stored anywhere. It is not to necessary to bring sheets,
blankets, pillows, pillow cases and towels (we provide you with one face
towel and one bath towel) .
-
What is the boat's technical equipment?
For the detailed inventory list please taka a look
on
http://www.croatia-charter.hr/Inventory.htm.
- Children onboard?
Children can go sailing
with you at an early age (this is said on the basis of our own experience)
acutely there is no age limit, however, their stay onboard should be closely
monitored by adults. We provide lifejacket for the children as well and they
need wear them all the time onboard. You should also consider choosing shorter
routes and visiting marinas more frequently due to a safer berthing as well as
comfort.
-
Which route should you choose?
This certainly depends on the length of your
charter. On our pages we do have three routes sugessted (one 14-days route and
two 7-days routes) and choosing any of them you will not mistake, but we
certainly reccomend discussing this matter further with us after explaining
your preferences.
- Is it
possible to take the boat over before 5PM when the check-in is determined?
Charters commence on Saturday afternoon and end on Friday
evening, with departure from the yacht on Saturday morning. And normally, your
yacht will not be available before 17.00 p.m., as some hours are necessary to
prepare it, properly, for your charter. However we always do our best to deliver
the yacht to our customers before the above mentioned time. In case that your
arrival is earlier than your boarding time, a short visit to the town (the old
town is 15minutes walking from our marina) or a drink at a bar around the marina
is our recommendation. Your luggage may remain safely on board. You are kindly
requested to avoid the "semi - embarkation" during the preparation of the yacht.
In any case you are advised to inform us about your arrival time(whatever it is)
so that we try to arrange check-ins on all the boats in the most efficient
manner which means making it earlier with those coming earlier and later wiht
those coming later. Should you arrive late in the evening, when ther is no day
light it is possbile that we let you onboard but postpone the check-in on Sunday
morning unless you insist that we do it on Saturday late evening.
-
When should the boat be returned to the
marina?
Regarding your return, it is highly recommended for you to be at the base marina
on Friday
around 17.00 to 19.00 p.m. and spend your last night there. Remember that the
yacht must be redelivered around 08.00 am next morning clean and with full fuel
tank.
- Crew list!
- IMPORTANT
By booking confirmation we send you
blank crew list form that you are obliged to fill- in with all the data
requested and return to us either via e-mail or fax (+385 21 213 128) at least
a day prior to the commencement of your charter. The number of the persons
onboard is to correspond to the number of the persons on the crew list.Changes
of the crew are possible – however, this should be indicated in advance,
before embarkation, so as to make crew lists, on which the dates of changes as
well information on people joining or leaving the crew will be specified. By
check-in we will provide you with the verified crew list/lists.
In case the crew suddenly changes during the cruise, without previous notice,
the guests are obliged to contact and inform us about the changes in order for
us to verify the new crew list. The new list can then be sent via fax to the
guests (to any place where they are at that moment). In case of a control, the
guests have to present the new crew list, although they are obliged to keep
the old one as well.
